Readiness for JAMcamp:
JAMcamp is for kids who display, at a minimum, Kindergarten readiness. In order for me to run an effective program which serves the needs of all children, a certain level of independence and self-management is expected; for example, developmentally-appropriate self-control and attention and behavior during circle time and group activities, and also with their peers. If your child is on the border and you're not sure if JAMcamp is a good fit, please call me to discuss (415-425-0372). If I determine after camp has begun that your child is not developmentally ready for the program (for example, if they require a counselor shadow at all times in order to keep the peace), I will make the call as to whether or not they can finish out the day or week. There are no refunds in this case, so if you have any questions about their preparedness, it is best to talk with me first. Thank you for understanding!

I will choose themes from the following: Lovingkindness, Compassion, Joy, Equanimity, Patience, Understanding, Generosity, Community, Intention, Non-Harming, Gratitude, Respect, Mindfulness, Waking Up, Truth, and Peace. The camps are for ages 5-9. Here are all the upcoming dates and details:

View a shorlist of dates to the right. Read detailed descriptions below.

Mon Oct 8, 9a-4p (Theme: NON-HARMING)
In line with the great Berkeley activists of yore who renamed this holiday Indigenous People's Day, honoring all beings who have endured colonization of any sort, we will immerse ourselves in songs, practices and projects that call our attention to our connection with the earth, and the many ways in which we as humans have the capacity and opportunity to harmonize with our environment. We can learn a lot from people around the planet and from the past who based their entire existence on working collaboratively with nature, and knew the truth that we are not, in the end, separate from the earth, but are rather inextricably interwoven with the earth. We will eat, dance, sing, celebrate, love and be mindful on this earth-loving day! Register Now!

Featured Songs:

Mon Nov 12, 9a-4p (Theme: PEACE)
We will explore the meaning and expression of peace within ourselves, and in our families, communities and world. Expect lots of dancing, singing, mindfulness practice and a collaborative peace-themed art project. We'll also learn a special Peace Meditation to share with families and classrooms, and set a Peace Intention for the world. Register Now!

Featured Songs:

Mon Jan 21, 9a-4p
(Theme: BELOVED COMMUNITY)

Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke eloquently of his profound vision for a "beloved community" -- a world grounded in non-violence, agape (kindness and goodwill), and a real and lasting love, respect and understanding for one another. On this day honoring his life and teachings, we will gather to create and celebrate our community, and practice song, dance and mindfulness that reinforce its value and importance. We will learn about loving speech and deep listening, and practice mindful conversations with the Sharing Stick. Expect a collaborative art project along these lines, plus lots of cherishing and appreciation of each other! Register Now!

Featured Songs:

Tue Feb 5, 9a-4p
(Theme: THE MOON)

Many cultures and traditions celebrate the new year based on a purely lunar or lunisolar calendar, rather than a solar calendar which has the new year landing on the same calendar day every year. Today at JAMcamp (on Lunar New Year 2019, year of the PIG!), we'll learn about the moon, moon cycles, and different ways of measuring time and celebrating the new year. We'll also sing about the moon and the sun, practice Moon Meditation, and create some collaborate art based on these magical celestial bodies. Your kids will leave refreshed, energized, inspired, and more in touch with the universe! Register Now!
