JAMcamp is for kids who display, at a minimum, Kindergarten readiness. In order for me to run an effective program which serves the needs of all children, a certain level of independence and self-management is expected; for example, developmentally-appropriate self-control and attention and behavior during circle time and group activities, and also with their peers. If your child is on the border and you're not sure if JAMcamp is a good fit, please call me to discuss (415-425-0372). If I determine after camp has begun that your child is not developmentally ready for the program (for example, if they require a counselor shadow at all times in order to keep the peace), I will make the call as to whether or not they can finish out the day or week. There are no refunds in this case, so if you have any questions about their preparedness, it is best to talk with me first. Thank you for understanding!

Let's gather over Winter Break to celebrate the season! We'll explore light-and-dark, change, impermanence, beginner's mind, and intention-setting, all in connection with the turning of the season and the calendar year. We'll also discuss and practice kindness, compassion, tolerance, respect and inclusion, in the spirit of the season, and because these teachings are of increasing importance in our changing world. In addition to all the usual singing, dancing, mindfulness and merry-making, we'll open our hearts to the big world and all its inhabitants and create something special to share with others in our community that may be less fortunate. And the kids will share their gifts with each other at one of our classic JAMcamp talent shows. Also, please have your child bring something along to contribute to our group SF Food Bank donation. Martin Luther King, Jr., spoke eloquently of his profound vision for a "beloved community" -- a world grounded in non-violence, agape (kindness and goodwill), and a real and lasting love, respect and understanding for one another. On this day honoring his life and teachings, we will gather to create and celebrate our community, and practice song, dance and mindfulness that reinforce its value and importance. We will learn about loving speech and deep listening, and practice mindful conversations with the Sharing Stick. Expect a collaborative art project along these lines, plus lots of cherishing and appreciation of each other! Register Now!
